Job Description: Certified Athletic Trainer

Position: Certified Athletic Trainer
Department: Sports and Athletics > Athletic Training
Reports to: Head Athletic Trainer

Job Summary:
The Certified Athletic Trainer is responsible for providing comprehensive medical care and support to athletes participating in sports and athletic activities. They will assist in the prevention, evaluation, and treatment of injuries, as well as designing and implementing rehabilitation programs. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills and demonstrate a strong ability to work collaboratively with coaches, medical professionals, and athletes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Administer initial assessments and evaluations to athletes to determine their physical condition and identify potential risk factors for injuries.
2. Develop and implement injury prevention programs, including warm-up routines, stretching exercises, and conditioning drills.
3. Provide immediate medical attention and first aid to athletes during practices, games, or events.
4. Evaluate, diagnose, and treat athletic injuries using appropriate therapeutic techniques, modalities, and equipment.
5. Assist in the coordination of medical services, including scheduling appointments with physicians, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
6. Design and implement individualized rehabilitation programs to aid in the recovery and return to play of injured athletes.
7. Educate athletes, coaches, and staff regarding injury prevention, proper nutrition, hydration, and the importance of maintaining overall physical well-being.
8. Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, injury reports, and treatment documentation.
9. Collaborate with coaches, strength and conditioning staff, and other medical professionals to develop and implement strength and conditioning programs.
10. Stay current with industry trends, advancements in athletic training techniques, and best practices through professional development and continuing education.

Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or related field. Master's degree preferred.
2. Certification by the Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers.
3. Current state licensure or eligible for licensure as an Athletic Trainer.
4. Minimum of [X] years of experience working as a Certified Athletic Trainer, preferably in a collegiate or professional sports setting.
5. Strong knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics as related to sports and athletic activities.
